About
Česko na dluh.

We help explain state and public debt: what the figures mean, where they come from and how they may affect everyday life.

Putting numbers in context.

Česko na dluh is an independent educational project operating under this brand. It is not an official website of the Ministry of Finance, Czech Statistical Office, Czech National Bank or Fiscal Council. Links to their documents do not imply endorsement or approval.

We aim to make public data accessible and explain the differences between state and public debt, deficits and interest, and observations and scenarios. Assigning debt changes to government periods is not proof that a particular government caused the entire change.

How content is created.

We publish under the brand Česko na dluh. The brand identifies this project; we do not publish individual authors' personal details or a contact email.

We also use artificial intelligence tools to create text, software and checks. Automation helps explain and process sources but does not guarantee accuracy. We do not claim that every text has undergone independent expert review by an economist or lawyer.

Educational explanations do not replace individual financial or legal advice. Models simplify reality; decisions should not rely on the main counter alone.

How we use sources.

  1. We prioritise original sources. We check statistics against Ministry of Finance, statistical office, Eurostat and other institutional publications. Legal explanations refer to specific legislation; changes require checking the text in force.
  2. We state the period and coverage. A year-end balance is not a live figure. Holders of domestic issues are not holders of the whole state debt.
  3. We distinguish facts, models and examples. Illustrative figures and calculator assumptions are not official forecasts.
  4. We keep sources traceable. Tables and explanations include source links and methodological notes. The media archive links to publishers and uses our own short summaries.

What the counter and calculators can do.

The main counter is a running linear model derived from annual observations. It does not show every actual issue or repayment. Real borrowing does not follow a smooth path.

Future interest uses the selected debt and rate. School and motorway comparisons illustrate scale, not immediately available savings. Debt per resident is not a personal liability. Detailed assumptions appear beside each calculation.

How to verify a figure or describe an error.

If something looks wrong, compare the indicator, period, unit and source release. New publications may revise earlier values. A page's modification date is therefore not automatically the date of a new statistical observation.

We currently provide no public feedback form or email address. You can verify the underlying information directly in the linked institutional publications.

Public materials for further use.

Alongside readable HTML, we publish data files. Third-party material remains subject to its publisher's terms; our own calculations must not be presented as the institution's original statistics.
